I don’t know about you, but i get very frustrated when i call a local company and get a sales person in Canada or overseas. Then, when you ask to speak to someone in your local area because you have a specific question, they tell you that is not possible. When you ask them your question they say I am sorry sir, I don’t have that information. I always prefer to speak to someone local, preferably the owner/operator, if possible. This allows for a personal connection between the customer and the owner/operator.
Secondly, when you choose a local company the rate that the customer pays is almost always lower. That is because smaller, independently owned businesses do not have to pay corporate franchise fees, which drives up the total price. Also with a local business, the owner has more flexibility in the services that he or she can provide to the customer.
Lastly, buying local products and services invests in our own communities. Building strong local communities is more important than ever. At a time when it seems that everyone has their head buried in an ipad or device, establishing relationships is more important than ever. Knowing the people in our communities is vital to the economy of our city and its overall well being.
